Broken & Beautiful

I was listening to a song the other day on the radio and instantly wanted to add it to my Spotify playlist. I didn't know who the song was by, so I just typed in the title (from what I could gather from the lyrics) and this was the song that popped up. I didn't listen to it first before I added it so when it came on my playlist the other day, I nearly drove off the side of the road in tears. What a beautiful message this teaches.

Broken and Beautiful

Calee Reed and Aaron Edson

When the light shines through me

All the broken pieces

Reflect His light

It's a beautiful sight

All the scars and spaces

Where the battles hurt me

Let more light in

Flood me with Him

You may see

Flaws in me

I'm not perfect

But I was never meant to be

Keep your view

of your perfect world

I was never meant to be that girl...

Broken

And I am beautiful

He'll use each piece

To make a masterpiece

From the ashes

He's creating me

I'm broken

Broken and beautiful

Every shade and color

All fit together

Each break designed

With me in mind

Every brilliant facet

Tells a different story

In every broken dream

His love is seen

Keep your view

of your perfect world

I was never meant to be that girl...

Broken And I am beautiful He'll use each piece To make a masterpiece From the ashes He's creating me I'm broken Broken and beautiful

I'll give Him what's left of my shattered heart

He'll piece it together brand new

And each empty space that was damaged and dark

Will light up with His love and truth

Yes, that's what His healing can do...

Broken and I am beautiful

He'll use each piece

To make a masterpiece

From the ashes

He's creating me

I'm broken

Broken and beautiful

kintsugi: (Noun) To repair with gold; The art of repairing metal with gold or silver lacquer and understanding that the piece is more beautiful for having been broken.

I know that I was meant to come across this song through the lyrics of another song that inspired me to look it up.

There are days that I feel broken, broken from pain of others choices, broken from the pain of not feeling like a good mom, friend, daughter, etc. and simply broken because I'm not perfect, nor will I ever be.

The original song, Broken and Beautiful by Kelly Clarkson is exactly how I feel. I struggle with pride in feeling like I'm good because I can hold it all together most days. But there are days that I just need someone to hold me, not necessarily fix me, but help me be a better version of myself.

Broken & Beautiful Kelly Clarkson

I never held my hand out and asked for something free I got pride I could roll out for miles in front of me I don't need your help, and I don't need sympathy I don't need you to lower the bar for me

I know I'm Superwoman, I know I'm strong I know I've got this 'cause I've had it all along I'm phenomenal and I'm enough I don't need you to tell me who to be

Can someone just hold me? Don't fix me, don't try to change a thing Can someone just know me? 'Cause underneath, I'm broken and it's beautiful

I'm broken and it's beautiful I'm broken and it's beautiful I'm broken and it's beautiful I'm broken and it's beautiful

We're walking on the ocean, turning water into wine We bury our emotion and pretend that we're just fine The only way to live now is to know you're gonna fly Don't listen to the lying liars and their lies

I know I'm Superwoman, I know I'm strong

I know I've got this 'cause I've had it all along

I'm phenomenal and I'm enough

I don't need you to tell me who to be

Can someone just hold me?

Don't fix me, don't try to change a thing

Can someone just know me?

'Cause underneath, I'm broken and it's beautiful

Hey, I'm broken and it's beautiful I'm broken and it's beautiful Hey, I'm broken and it's beautiful I'm broken and it's beautiful (oh)

I'm tired (oh) Can I just be tired? (just be tired) Without piling on all sad and scared and out of time (oh) I'm wild (wild) Can I just be wild? (just be wild) Without feeling like I'm failing and I'm losing my mind

Can someone just hold me?

Don't fix me, don't try to change a thing

Oh, someone just know me

'Cause underneath, I'm broken and it's beautiful

I'm broken and it's beautiful

I'm broken and it's beautiful

I'm

I'm broken and it's beautiful

It's beautiful, it's beautiful (it's beautiful)

It's beautiful, yeah, I'm broken and it's beautiful

It's beautiful, yeah, it's beautiful (it's beautiful)

It's beautiful, yeah, I'm broken and it's beautiful

God wants us to be uniquely ourselves, for that is how he created us, but he wants us to strive to be our best and fix the broken pieces in our lives by turning to Him and allowing Him to mend with "gold" (reference from Calee Reed's blog above) our imperfections. What a wonderful reminder these two songs our of our dependence on the Savior to heal our broken hearts, thoughts, mind and lives. There is hope!
